Principal's Report
Dear Families,
As we reach the end of Semester 1, we conclude an important assessment cycle for both students and staff. This week, our Year 10 and 11 students have been completing their exams, while students in other year levels have been busy finalising assignments, tests, and various learning tasks. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated staff for their tireless efforts in supporting our students throughout the first half of the year and for their commitment to finalising grades for the upcoming reports.
A reminder that Monday, 23 June is a student-free day. Staff will use this time to complete the marking of Semester 1 assessments and prepare for the commencement of Semester 2 on Tuesday.
We also take this opportunity to wish TMC Principal, Mr Corey Tavella, all the best as he embarks on a period of renewal leave. Mr Tavella will be undertaking a Study Tour Pilgrimage through the UK, proudly representing Thomas More College.
It was a pleasure to see so many members of our community - students, parents, and staff - at the opening of the Visual Art Exhibition on Friday, 13 June at the Playford Civic Centre. The talent of our students continues to amaze us, with a diverse range of artworks on display. We are fortunate to have access to such a public space to showcase the creativity and skill of our students. A special thank you to our Food & Hospitality classes, who catered the evening with their impressive culinary talents.
Yesterday, our Year 7 and Year 12 students gathered in the gym for a Eucharistic Celebration led by Fr. Roderick, in honour of the Feast of St Thomas More. While only two year levels could attend in person, other students engaged with the significance of the feast day through activities in their wellbeing classes.
We also wish a restful and well-deserved break to the following staff taking Long Service Leave in Semester 2:
- Tim Nykke (Week 10, Term 2)
- Louise Eldridge and Siva Pillay (all of Term 3)
Several other staff members will also be taking Long Service Leave at various points throughout the remainder of the year. These roles have been covered internally to ensure continuity for our students.
Finally, we warmly welcome Mr Ethan Crook to TMC for Semester 2. Mr Crook will be teaching English and HaSS, covering staff on long service leave.
With Thanks,
Shannon Bertram
Acting Principal
