Dear Families,

We are very deep into another successful Intercollegiate (Intercol) week.  As I write, Thomas More currently leads 8-7.5; it is also worth noting that the calibre of the competition from St Columba has the contest much closer this year, resulting in some hotly contested competitions.  With two sports to play today (open girls and open boys’ soccer), we are both confident and hopeful of a TMC victory; having said that, even if this does not eventuate, I can very safely say that the sense of camaraderie, challenge, cooperation, and competition has all been outstanding.  I would like to thank St Columba Principal Darren Pitt, all St Columba staff and students, and of course, our own TMC staff and students.  I would especially like to thank Sports and Community Relations Leader David Altamura for his tireless work in making this week happen; he works with both humility and speed, and we are fortunate to have David work hard for our students.

It's no secret that I love this week.  I love what it means for our Community, and I love seeing how students and staff bond over the different activities.  I also love that it provides so many different opportunities for our students to be excellent, to try, to fail, to get up again, and to go hard.  I was stopped by a Year 9 student last week at lunch who said, 'Mr Tavella, I promise I will do my absolute best next week in Intercol.'  He took part in the STEM activity- how awesome!

This is also a great segue into the true success of this week: our students.  I am so proud of them, as participants, as spectators, and ultimately as a part of TeamTMC.  Thank you also to our brilliant staff, both for coaching and supporting our young people and for keeping the rest of the school moving so well.
