Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary holds a treasured place in our Catholic tradition, celebrating the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory at the end of her earthly life.
On Thursday, 14th August, students from Year 9 and Year 10 gathered with Fr Charles to celebrate Mass in honour of this feast. In his homily, Fr Charles invited us to reflect on the ways we can “let God lift us up” in our own lives, not through grand gestures, but through the simple, everyday acts of kindness, generosity, and care for others. These moments, he reminded us, open our hearts to God’s grace and mirror Mary’s own humble ‘yes’ to God’s plan.
The Assumption reminds us that when we choose to live with faith and kindness, God can lift us up just as was done for Mary. It is an invitation to trust in God’s promise and to let God’s love guide the way we speak, act, and care for others every day.
