Year 10 Students Cook Up Healthy “Fakeaway” Creations!
This term, our Year 10 Food and Hospitality students embraced the growing trend of “Fakeaway”—a healthier, homemade twist on traditional takeaway favourites. As part of a research task, students explored the rising popularity of fakeaway meals in Australia, examining key factors such as health benefits, affordability, and social influences.
They found that fakeaway meals offer a way to enjoy dishes like burgers, pizzas, and noodles using fresher ingredients and more nutritious cooking methods. With increasing awareness around healthy eating and the cost of living, fakeaway provides a smart, budget-friendly solution for families wanting to eat well without compromising on taste.
Equipped with this insight, students then designed and cooked their own fakeaway dishes in class. From veggie-packed burgers and homemade pasta to tortillas, pizzas, and oven-baked fish and chips, their creations were a delicious showcase of how healthy eating can be both satisfying and affordable.
Keep your eyes peeled, we will include a new recipe every fortnight! ?
