Our Newest Strategic Plan 2025 -2027!
At Thomas More College, our vision is more than words on a page; it’s a lived experience. Through the outcomes of Serve, Achieve, Access, Grow, and Learn, we empower every student with the wisdom to seek, the courage to thrive, and the power to change.
Please view how we are living our Strategic Plan through the voices of our students.
Together, we are always Learning More, Living More, and Being More.
A conversation can change a life.
This year’s R U OK? Week at Thomas More College was filled with fun activities, laughter, music, and connection, all reminding us of the power of checking in with one another. From wearing yellow to enjoying time together, our community demonstrated that supporting one another can be simple, meaningful, and even joyful.
You don’t need to be an expert to reach out, just a good friend and a great listener. By asking R U OK?, listening, encouraging action, and checking in, we can all play a part in supporting those around us.
A special highlight of the week came during our R U OK? Liturgy, where the song Golden (from the new K-pop show) was played. Seeing all year levels join in, singing along, and sharing laughter together, was a powerful reminder to our community that you are golden, and you should always be proud of who you are.
While we celebrate R U OK? Week Once a year, the message is for every day. Let’s keep the conversations going and continue to look out for our friends, family, and community, today and every day.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all staff who supported the week, in particular Emma Cannon and Kate Onofrio, for their incredible efforts in planning and managing all the activities. Without you, this week would not have been possible. Thank you!

What an incredible week 6 it was for our Thomas More College community as we proudly celebrated another successful Intercol with St Columba College!
We are immensely proud of our students for the way they represented TMC across every activity and event. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and determination shone through from start to finish, and they consistently displayed the values of respect, teamwork, and sportspersonship. Whether on the field, the court, the stage, or in the classroom, our students embraced every opportunity to participate and give their very best, and it is this spirit that makes us so proud.
Students competed in a wide range of events, showcasing their many talents and strengths. From the action of volleyball, basketball, netball, AFL, and soccer, to the strategy of debating, chess, and e-sports, our students showed focus and resilience. The cooking challenge, STEM, spelling bee, choir, theatre sports, and art expo highlighted creativity and collaboration, reminding us that Intercol is about so much more than sport; it’s about celebrating all aspects of learning and achievement.
Every student who stepped up to represent TMC played an important role in our success. We are proud not only of the victories but of the courage, teamwork, and support shown throughout the week.
A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated staff for their support and encouragement. In particular, we extend a massive thank you to Mr Altamura for his outstanding efforts in organising Intercol and ensuring the event ran smoothly.
And what a way to finish, TMC were crowned the 2025 Intercol Champions! ? This result reflects the collective spirit, energy, and participation of our whole school community.
Finally, we would like to thank St Columba College for joining us in this exciting week of competition. Intercol continues to provide a valuable opportunity for connection, friendship, and healthy rivalry, and we are grateful to share such memorable moments.
Bring on INTERCOL 2026!

On Friday 29 August, 34 students and 8 staff braved the cold in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness as part of the annual Vinnies Winter Sleepout.
The Sleepout has become a significant event in the College calendar, offering our community the chance to step outside of their comfort zones and reflect on the challenges faced by people who are “doing it rough.” This year, our students and staff raised over $1,500 in support of the Vinnies SA Winter Appeal.
Cardboard forts and blanket campsites quickly filled the gym, as students worked together to create makeshift shelters for the night. The evening also included a big cook-up for Fred’s Van, a mini basketball competition, and plenty of card games, all adding to the spirit of teamwork and connection.
We are grateful to all the staff and students who gave their time and energy to this important initiative, and to everyone who generously contributed to the fundraising effort. Together, we made a real difference.

Year 11 Retreat + Wellbeing Day
On Monday, 1st and Tuesday, 2nd September, our Year 11 students took part in two inspiring experiences designed to support their wellbeing, faith, and connection. Students were divided into two groups, alternating between a Retreat at Para Wirra Conservation Park and a Wellbeing Day at school.
The Retreat focused on connecting with nature, each other, and God. Beginning with prayer and reflection on Genesis, students were reminded of the goodness of creation and their place within it. Activities such as bushwalking, meditation mandalas, kindness rocks, and collaborative art encouraged gratitude, mindfulness, and friendship. The day concluded with a liturgy centered on Psalm 23, inviting students to reflect on God’s presence in nature, silence, and community.
The Wellbeing Day offered opportunities for students to pause and recharge through activities including grazing board making, yoga, boxing, and an energetic Amazing Race challenge. A highlight of the program was an inspiring keynote address from Chris Blowes, whose inspiring story of resilience and growth encouraged students to reflect on the importance of mindset when facing challenges.
Together, the two days provided a well-rounded experience, balancing spiritual growth and wellbeing, and allowing our Year 11 students to return to their studies refreshed, connected, and inspired.

Stage 2 English Adelaide Gaol Excursion
On Wednesday of Week 7, Mrs Lange and Mr Arciuolo’s Stage 2 English students visited the Adelaide Gaol, where they were provided with an opportunity to step back in time and experience what life was like for prisoners for nearly 150 years until it’s closure in 1988.
Guided by the fantastic and deeply knowledgeable Laurie, we walked through the cold stone cells, narrow corridors, and prison yards as we gained a powerful sense of the harsh conditions faced by inmates during this time period.
This experience helped students understand the justice system of the past, including how crimes were punished and how attitudes toward rehabilitation have changed over time, which allowed them to reflect on how ideas about law and human dignity have developed.
In addition, the excursion encouraged students to think critically about broader issues such as crime prevention, the role of authority, and the importance of social justice. By physically walking through the gaol and hearing real stories about real people, they developed empathy for people who lived in very different circumstances. The excursion was both engaging and educational, helping students connect history and ethics in a meaningful way.

Year 10 Students Dive into Culture and Cuisine
Year 10 Food and Hospitality students recently embarked on a sensory adventure through Adelaide’s Central Markets and the vibrant Chinatown precinct. Surrounded by the aromas of sizzling street food and the buzz of market life, students explored the rich influence of Asian culture on Australia’s food scene. From authentic eateries to fresh seasonal produce, the excursion offered a delicious blend of cultural insight and curriculum connection—bringing classroom concepts to life in the most flavourful way!
Year 10 Students Cook Up Healthy “Fakeaway” Creations!
This term, our Year 10 Food and Hospitality students embraced the growing trend of “Fakeaway”—a healthier, homemade twist on traditional takeaway favourites. As part of a research task, students explored the rising popularity of fakeaway meals in Australia, examining key factors such as health benefits, affordability, and social influences.
They found that fakeaway meals offer a way to enjoy dishes like burgers, pizzas, and noodles using fresher ingredients and more nutritious cooking methods. With increasing awareness around healthy eating and the cost of living, fakeaway provides a smart, budget-friendly solution for families wanting to eat well without compromising on taste.
Equipped with this insight, students then designed and cooked their own fakeaway dishes in class. From veggie-packed burgers and homemade pasta to tortillas, pizzas, and oven-baked fish and chips, their creations were a delicious showcase of how healthy eating can be both satisfying and affordable.
Keep your eyes peeled, we will include a new recipe every fortnight! ?
